The relationship between Meteorology and Health is discussed in the 13thIssue of the Cirrus Magazine

The Studious National Union of Meteorology (UNEMET) has just published the 13th edition of Cirrus. In this issue are being presented aspects of influence of the Meteorology on human health. Many of our illnesses, such as headaches, nervousness, fatigue and circulatory disorders are often attributed to weather. But, does weather really affects our health? It was to answer this and others questions that prepared this issue to show the versatility of Meteorology and open for discussion among a range Meteorology, environment and health, especially for evidence that the meteorological science goes beyond the stereotype of the weather forecast. Therefore, the Meteorology should be better explored, reported and known by all people. It is necessary that society increasingly aware of the potential benefits and applications of Meteorology, since addresses at the social, economic and political. It is this connection with everyday life that we did prepare and speak on this theme that blends elements weather, health and quality of urban life.

The question of the meteorology effects on human health is also addressed in our interview with Professor José de Oliveira Clênio (UFAL) expert in this area. In it, the teacher makes an analysis of the major issues between Meteorology and the effects on human health, advocating greater awareness and more resources to be able to do more research on this subject over time should be more important in the quest to answer that afflict our health. Other sessions have also been developed taking advantage of the cover theme, like Curiosities, Memory and Reading Room.

Past 30 years of Professional Regulation Law of Meteorology we are still fighting for our rights to be heeded and asking what we do, from the perspective of short, medium and long term, to face these problems. This is the essence of our Point of View, which seeks to examine the Lay Project which that change the name of the profession and its authors solve existing problems. Demonstrations sent by students, teachers and professionals, have clearly shown that the meteorological community wants improvement, strengthening, and that complying with existing Law, but not changing the professional name, believing that this would not alter the current issues and could even hurt more even if this were to occur. The idea was to leave here a point of reflection for the entire meteorological community to move, to articulate increasingly fighting on behalf of our profession, Meteorology, which is worthy of respect and that has great importance in society. Finally, Cirrus could not fail to mention the loss of one of the biggest names in scientific publication on Astronomy and Meteorology in Brazil: the physical and painter Marcomede Rangel. Marcomede loved to talk with children about science, among them Meteorology. His death leaves a huge gap between those who, like him, struggle to spread unimpeded science to all people, simply and without technicality. Radar and Agenda sessions are some of the themes that complement the menu of this Cirrus thirteenth edition.
